About half of BTP teaching fellows are interested in pursuing a career in education. BTP teaching fellows are two-thirds people of color, one-third men, and one-half Providence residents. This is compared to Providence’s teaching force which is overwhelmingly white, female, and non-residents of the city. BTP teachers receive training and support to develop skills in restorative justice, intersectional analysis, and project-based learning – all key to the development of culturally competent and engaging classroom teachers.
